Niche Marketing
The first step in starting up a niche site is to find what people are interested in. To start you can look at what the hot topics in eBay are or you can look at one of the article directories. From these subjects select keywords to do research on. Use the Google keyword tool to select potential niches. Look for keywords that have sufficient search volume but not a lot of advertiser competition.
Once you are done with that you need to figure out what the web surfers are looking for. This is important to do. Once you have this step completed then you can setup a number of different types of sites to exploit the niche. Here are some ideas:
- Informational site. This site will have a lot of content. You can add Adsense to it to monetize the site. You can also put affiliate products on it and sell those.
- You can setup a review site and go over the leading products in the niche. This type of site lends itself well to affiliate marketing.
- You could write your on eBook and sell that.
To get started you will need to have the following:
- A web-hosting site. Hostgator.com is excellent.
- A service to acquire websites. GoDaddy.com is one of the leaders.
- Your own website. You may get around this but you will significantly restrict yourself. Preferably find a keyword that gets a lot of traffic but is not taken as a domain yet.
- Get an Adwords account so you can do keyword research. You can also purchase a program that will do the research for you.
Niche marketing can be a little hard to get into and get started but the rewards are excellent. You just need to persevere and not quit when the going gets a little tough.
