So you have setup a website and submitted it to the website directories. Guess what you aren't done getting your website going but are just starting. You need to drive traffic to your website. One of the best ways to do this is with article marketing. Article marketing consists of writing articles about the subject of your website and submitting these to the article directories. You should also be placing a version of the article onto your website so you can enhance the content of it. Actually the version on the website should come before you submit to the article directory.

There are certain "rules" you should follow if you want your articles to be published. They are not to have self-serving links in the body of the article. You can put two links into the resource box at the end of the article. The article should be 250 to 700 words long. You want to keep them short since the people reading them aren't going to spend a lot of time reading. Make sure you are writing original content. This should be obvious. After all you are submitting to article directories. You shouldn't be copying an article and then just resubmitting it. If you want to reuse an article then there are certain things you need to do so you can. Make sure you read what the requirements are from the article directory.

If you are just getting started out writing articles then it is best to write about something you know to begin with. Hopefully if you are writing to get traffic to your website then that website is about something you already know about. If you want to be successful at submitting to the article directories then you are going to need to submit more than just a few articles. You need to do this because you won't be recognized as an expert until you do. You won't start getting real results until you have published at least 20 articles. This is where you will be separated from the vast amount of article writers. Most people don't make it past 10. Once you get past 100 articles then you will be generating significant traffic for your websites at zero cost except for the time you spend writing the articles.

The last part of the article is your resource box. This is where you sell yourself and your website. You can put your web links in this location. Make sure to spend some time on this. So you should have your name, website and sales pitch for your product. Don't overdue your resource box. Keep it to the point.

To be successful at article marketing then you will need the following:

1. A quality website with plenty of content. Don't send people to your affiliate landing page.
2. Keep articles 250 to 700 words in length.
3. Submit at least 20 articles. The more the better.
4. Write original content not something you copied from somewhere else.
5. Finally write a good resource box so your hard work pays off.

Affiliate marketing isn't easy. But it is highly rewarding. Remember to keep refining your techniques and you will ultimately be successful. Never stop learning and trying to get better.
